ABOUT US

We are a homegrown rescue and rehabilitation centre dedicated to ducks, chickens, geese, turkeys, and all other poultry and fowl.

Every bird that comes to us receives the medical care, proper nutrition, and love they need to live a happy life. They are given space to free-range, heal, and thrive.

Whenever possible, we support wild birds in regaining their strength so they can return to the wild, while domestic breeds are offered a safe, loving home where they can enjoy the best quality of life for the rest of their days

MEET LEANNE…

Hi, I’m Leanne—the owner of The Quack Shack. I handle all the day-to-day running of the sanctuary, while my husband Neil is the handyman who takes care of the building and fixing jobs.

I first got ducks in 2022 when we moved to this property. How things escalated to where we are now…I honestly have no idea! I still ask myself that daily. What I do know is that I never expected to fall so deeply in love with these feathered friends.

In January 2025, after a year of studying, I qualified with a Wildlife Rehabilitation Diploma. I work closely with a local veterinary practice to ensure every animal that comes here gets the very best care.

Outside of the sanctuary, Neil and I run a sign-making business (because the ducks sadly don’t pay rent 🤣). Before this, I was a makeup artist—so yes, my life has changed dramatically! These days you’re far more likely to find me covered in mud or duck poo than glamming people up in fancy locations.

But honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m perfectly happy being known as the local crazy duck lady. 🦆💛
